Extensive Training
Our physicians have undergone advanced training at renowned institutions, so they can bring the latest state-of-the-art surgical and nonsurgical treatments to our patients.
Founding physician Max W. Cohen, MD, is the only surgeon in the region with double fellowship training in spine and scoliosis treatment. His fellowship training was completed at Cornell University’s Hospital for Special Surgery, ranked as the nation’s top orthopaedics hospital. Known as an innovator, Dr. Cohen was the first surgeon in the U.S. to place a universal clamp during a spinal fusion. He has undergone training in numerous other groundbreaking techniques.
Physician Michael Tooke, MD, is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon with advanced training in a number of spine procedures, including anterior lumbar spine surgery and artificial disc replacement. He was the first in the region to perform lumbar artificial disc replacement using the ProDiscL, and he previously taught spinal surgery to medical residents and fellows at top U.S. medical schools.
In addition to their advanced training, our surgeons also bring many years of experience to each patient’s case. Their expertise in spinal surgery is reflected in proven results and in the satisfaction of our patients. (Read patient success stories here.)
Physician Thomas R. Saullo, MD, is a specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation. He is fellowship-trained in interventional spine procedures, including pain-releiving procedures such as epidural injections, nerve blocks, facet joint injections and medial branch blocks, as well as radiofrequency ablation, discography, vertebroplasty and implants of spinal cord stimulator trials.
In addition to their own training in the latest techniques, our doctors also frequently provide educational seminars for other physicians, nurses, case managers and others. Click here to see recent programs.
